British Conservative MPs and former health ministers Jeremy Hunt and Sajid Javid announced using interviews with the Telegraph newspaper that they are running to succeed Boris Johnson as prime minister.
Hunt, who lost to Johnson in the 2019 leadership race, and Javid said they would cut corporation tax by 15% as leader, while Javid also said he would reverse the increase in Social Security contributions in April. Will give
“It’s pretty straightforward why I want to do this,” Hunt told the Telegraph of his plans to run. “That’s because we have to restore confidence, grow the economy and win the next election.”
Javid, who is also a former finance minister, told the newspaper: “We cannot take a tax cut.”
