Fortnite is finally coming back to iOS devices and this has become possible thanks to the ongoing battle between Epic Games and Apple in the courtroom. We have been hearing this news for years, even as Apple looks to defend its own policies with the App Store billing systems.
But now, the company has no choice but to bring back the popular game for millions of iPhone users. Reports say Fortnite on iOS App Store could happen in the next few days, which will surely excite many.
Fortnite Back On App Store: How It Happened
The legal case between Apple and Epic Games has been going on since 2020 but this year the Court decided to sanction a major order where Apple was ordered to allow apps like Fortnite to be linked to external payment modes, and not take any commission from the app developers for the same.
Apple has previously hit back at Epic Games for filing a lawsuit against its App Store policies, saying the Fortnite game developer has created its own problems and Epic’s actions are putting the “entire App Store model at risk”.
But we have seen these statements used multiple times, especially when the EU regulators wanted Apple to adopt USB C charging for its devices and allow sideloading of apps on its platforms.
Big Changes Coming
Coming back to Fortnite, gamers will soon get access to the battle royale game on the App store, while Android users have the option to download and install it from the Epic Games app store or the official website.
The developer is reportedly going to use its Epic Games account that was created to run in the EU regions, and the US market will allow the same to be used to offer its games on the App Store for iPhone and iPad users in the country.
Epic Games is going to send the game for App Store checks and approvals which should be done in the next few days, after which Fortnite will be listed on the App Store and give people the freedom to use third-party payment systems for in-app purchases and not have to pay Apple any commission for these payments.
