Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said today that the discussions of the political committee set up to deliberate on the major challenges facing the party and the country at the Chintan Shivir here were “emotionally debated” with an “amicable solution”.

Mr Tharoor said the ‘Nav Sankalp Chintan Shivir’ was an excellent opportunity to engage with party colleagues from across the country including M Pallam Raju and Mani Shankar Aiyar.

Posting a photograph with some members of the political committee set up by party chief Sonia Gandhi to lead the discussion on the subject, Mr Tharoor said they gathered for a group photo on Saturday night after deliberations. “The discussions were a strong example of inner-party democracy in action: ideas were passionate and amicable solutions were found,” said the Thiruvananthapuram MP, who was among a group of 23 leaders calling for massive reforms in 2020.
