Found with arrow from dog’s neck, animal service says it has been cured

The dog is now acting like a healthy puppy.

A four-month-old Chihuahua puppy shot with an arrow until its body is expected to survive after veterinarians remove the projectile from its neck.

According to Riverside County Animal ServicesUnknown dog was found injured earlier this week South Carolina, We. A woman called 911 on Monday morning when she heard the puppy “yell” in pain. Animal Services said the sheriff’s deputy picked up the female dog and transferred her to an animal services officer, who then brought the dog to the Coachella Valley Animal Campus.

The officer observed that the projectile punctured the neck of the Tan Chihuahua, after which he held the dog in his arms before the hospital opened to ensure that the dog did not run away or injure himself. Animal Services reported that the arrow was stuck in a fence and the pooch could not be freed.

After examination, veterinary staff determined that the arrow did not hit the puppy’s vital arteries. “It was purely a superficial wound,” explained veterinary technician Ivan Herrera Los Angeles Times. Mr Herrera also said that once the pooch was inside the facility, it appeared stable and calm and allowed staff to assist him.

“It’s disgusting for someone to intentionally shoot this poor puppy with an arrow,” said Animal Services Director Erin Gatiss. Statement, “We are shocked and we hope someone can give us some insight as to who did it,” he said.

After sedating the pooch, doctors were able to remove the pointed arrowhead from the shaft. The dog has since “recovered and is acting like a healthy puppy”. According to LA TimesThe pooch is lively, barking and wagging its tail to get attention.
