From dabbawalas to Sonam Kapoor, these Indians will attend King Charles III’s coronation

London [UK]May 6 (ANI): The coronation ceremony of King Charles III begins today. Several Indians will be part of the coronation ceremony to represent the nation at the royal ceremony in London.

Vice President Jaideep Dhankhar along with his wife Sudesh Dhankhar will represent India at the royal pageant amidst a host of celebrities and heads of government from across the globe.

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor will also perform a spoken word performance at the King’s coronation ceremony, as reported earlier by US-based media house Variety.

Also invited to the royal ceremony are two dabbawalas from Mumbai’s Dabbawalas, who are world-famous for their lunchbox delivery in the metropolis.

The dabbawalas bought a ‘puneri turban’ and a shawl from the ‘varkari’ community. The Puner Pagdi is a unique style of turban and is considered a symbol of pride and honor in Pune. It was given the Geographical Indication status in the year 2009.

A number of community workers associated with King Charles’ charity work will also attend the royal ceremony.

Architect Saurabh Phadke, an alumnus of the Charles Foundation’s Building Craft program and the Prince’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts, will attend the event along with 33-year-old Delhi resident Galfsa, who won the Prince’s Trust Globe Award.

Jai Patel, who lives in Canada, has also been invited as he completed the Prince’s Trust Canada youth employment program last year.

Indian-origin British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will read from the Bible book of Colossians at the coronation ceremony. Sunak will lead the procession of delegates along with his wife Akshata Murthy.

Rishi Sunak, Bhagwan Inderjit Singh and Bhagwan Syed Kamal of Indo-Guyanese heritage will participate in the ceremony to mark the representation of different religions in the consecration ceremony. Bhagwan Indrajit will stand in favor of Sikhism and Bhagwan Syed Kamali will stand in favor of Muslim opinion. (ANI)
