From ‘Jai Bheem’ to ‘Excursion’, Amazon Prime unveils upcoming line-up of releases

The film starring Suriya, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Emraan Hashmi and Vicky Kaushal are among the releases

Amazon Prime Video on Friday announced a slate of movies, documentaries and shows that will be released on its platform during the upcoming festive season.

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s “Excursion” will be Prime Video’s first title to release in October during the festive period, the streamer service said in a press release.

Directed by Ravi K Chandran, the film is a remake of the 2018 Bollywood hit “Andhadhun”.

After “Excursion”, the streamer will release Shoojit Sircar’s “Sardar Udham”, which will feature Vicky Kaushal in the lead role.

The film is a biopic on freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh, who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab in British India in 1940 to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919.

Emraan Hashmi starrer supernatural horror film ‘Daybuk’ is next in line after ‘Sardar Udham’. The film is the official remake of the hit Malayalam film “Ezra”.

After three feature films, the second edition of the innovative stand-up comedy series “One Mic Stand” will arrive on Prime Video.

This will be followed by two Tamil-language films: the family drama “Udanpirappe” and the Suriya-starrer murder mystery “Jai Bheem”.

Prime Video also plans international titles for the festive season, starting with the documentary “Justin Bieber: Our World”.

The documentary is a “revealing and exhilarating” look at global music star Justin Bieber’s inner circle and his first full concert in three years.

After that, Dreamer will release the teen horror drama series “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Maradona: Blessed Dream”, a special series based on the life of legendary football player Diego Maradona. Dev Patel starrer ‘The Green Knight’ will be the streamer’s last entry during the festive season.

The film, which released in Indian cinemas in August, is directed by David Lowery.

It follows the journey of Sir Gawain, played by Patel, the reckless and obstinate nephew of King Arthur, who seeks to confront the Green Knight, a mythical, dangerous and colossal entity.

Actor Ralph Inson played the Green Knight, Sean Harris played King Arthur and Alicia Vikander as Essel.
