After a two-year disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the physical board exams have finally returned for classes 10 and 12. While many boards including Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) One adopted a two-term formula for the current academic year, others conducted the exam in traditional ways. Till now only Bihar and Madhya Pradesh board has declared 10th, 12th exam results.
From UP Board to West Bengal to Kerala, here is a list of last year’s passing marks and pass percentage of several state boards:
U P Board: To clear class 10 and 12 examinations conducted by Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (UPMSP), Students need to get minimum 33% marks. Last year, the board had the highest pass percentage of 97.88 in class 12 results. The pass percentage for class 10th was 99.53.

West Bengal Board: Students need to score at least 30 percentile in order to clear the West Bengal Board Class 10 and 12 results. In 2021, the pass percentage of class 12 was 97.69 while the board recorded 100 per cent result in class 10.
CBSE: To be declared passed in the CBSE board exams for class 10 and 12, students will have to secure a minimum of 33 per cent marks in theory, internal assessment and practical examination. This year the final marks of the students will be calculated on the basis of average marks in Term 1 and Term 2 examinations.
Last year, CBSE had to cancel board exams in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak and students were assessed through alternate methods. CBSE recorded a pass percentage of 99.4 in 2021. In 2020, 88.78 per cent students had passed CBSE Class 12 results while 91.46 per cent of Class 10 students passed the exam.
CISCE: The passing marks for class 12 or ISC exam is 40 percent and for class ICSE or class 10, it is 35 percent. Last year, the board had recorded 100 percentile in class 10 and 99.53 percent in class 12.
Rajasthan Board: Students have to secure a minimum of 33 per cent marks to be declared passed in RBSE’s class 10 and 12 board exams. Last year, more than 99 per cent students who appeared in the class 12 board exam passed the exam, while in class 10, the pass percentage stood at 99.56 per cent.
Telangana Board: Board of Secondary Education (BSE) and Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) conduct class 10 (SSC) and class 12 exams in the state. Candidates need to score minimum 35 percentile to clear the exam.
Maharashtra Board: The passing marks in Maharashtra Board Class 10 and 12 exams is 35 percent. In 2021, the board recorded an almost perfect pass percentage after the exam was canceled due to COVID-19 and marks were awarded to students based on alternative methods of evaluation.
Punjab Board: A candidate must obtain a minimum of 33 per cent marks to clear the class 10 and 12 examinations conducted by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB). In 2021, 96.48 per cent students had cleared the board’s class 12 exam while the pass percentage for class 10 was 99.93.
Gujarat Board: A minimum of 33 per cent marks are required to clear the Gujarat Board exam of class 10 and 12. Last year, board exams had to be canceled and students were given mass promotions.
Chhattisgarh Board: A minimum of 33 percent marks is required to clear the class 10 and 12 board exams conducted by the Chhattisgarh Board. Last year, the board exams were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Board results are expected this year To be announced by the end of May or the first week of June.

Karnataka Board: Students need to secure at least 35 percent marks to pass the class 10 and 12 exams. Last year, the exam had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and marks were awarded to students as per alternative methods of evaluation.
Kerala Board: To clear the Kerala Board Class 10 and 12 exams, a candidate needs to score at least 30 percentile. In 2021, 99.8 percent of Class 10 students had passed the board exams, while Class 12’s pass percentage stood at 87.94 percent.
