In the backdrop of violence in Vizhinjam, a peace mission was formed here on Thursday under the aegis of the Kerala Gandhi Memorial Fund.
Representatives of around 16 organizations that met at the Gandhi Memorial Fund expressed concern over the “volatile situation” in Vizhinjam and other parts of the state. The meeting was presided over by N. Radhakrishnan said the state needed a development perspective that addressed the apprehensions of the common man with projects with a long-term vision.
Retired Justice MR Hariharan Nair stressed the need to resolve differences through peace talks. Dr. Radhakrishnan is the President of the Mission while VK Mohanan and Advocate Uday Kumar are the Mission Convenors. The peace mission members are Sri Nair, TKA Nair, former diplomat TP Srinivasan, Swami Ashwathy Thirunal, writers George Onakkur and N Gopalakrishnan Nair.
