One of the most awaited Hindu festivals, Ganesh Chaturthi begins today (10 September 2021). This auspicious festival lasts for 10 days and will end with Ganesh Visarjan on September 19, 2021. In the next few days, devotees from different parts of the country will celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm and lots of sweets. It is believed that Lord Ganesha has a soft spot for sweets. This is the reason why devotees prepare various types of sweets to offer bhog to their beloved deity. Thanks to the country’s rich cultural diversity, we are spoiled for choices when it comes to the variety of sweet treats. One such dish is Puran Poli. This Maharashtrian sweet is a staple in almost every bhog thali prepared to be offered to Lord Ganesha. What if we tell you that we have a recipe that gives this dish a South Indian spin. It is called Holige (or Obattu) and is a popular sweet in Karnataka.
