The history of Lalbaugcha Raja, a popular Ganesh idol, is quite famous from ancient times. It is located in Putlabai Chawl, a place of worship which was established in 1934.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials on Saturday said the civic body has received 3,500 applications for construction of public pandals for Ganpati, which is much higher than the 2,400 permission granted last year.
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 had forced the civic body to impose a number of restrictions on festivities, including a height of four feet and two feet for idols to be ‘sarvajanik’ (public) and for houses, respectively.
