The arrested accused was produced in Bardhaman POCSO Court.
A 15-year-old girl has been allegedly gang-raped in West Bengal’s Purba Bardhaman district, following which one of the two accused has been arrested, police said on Saturday, December 18, 2021.

An official said that the incident took place on Thursday evening near Amrun Bazar under Bhatar police station area when a class IX student had left for the market.
The accused e-rickshaw driver saw the victim going towards the market and offered to drop her there.

But on the way another accused boarded the vehicle and both of them took the girl to a secluded place and gang-raped her.
Both the accused fled leaving her on the spot, after which she returned to the market and informed the locals about the incident, who informed their parents, the officer said, adding that the victim is being treated at Bhatar Hospital.
He said the girl’s family lodged a complaint with the police, following which the e-rickshaw driver was arrested on Friday and a search has been started for the other accused.
The arrested accused was produced before the Bardhaman POCSO Court, which sent him to three-day police custody, the official said.
