Rohini Court Shootout: Jitendra Gogi was shot dead allegedly by a rival gang inside the court premises.
New Delhi:
there were three gangsters Killed in a shootout inside a court room in Delhi This has left many people injured and raised serious questions about the safety of what should be a highly protected and sanitized area. In the video, gunshots are heard in the court and policemen and lawyers are seen scuffles in the building of Rohini in North Delhi.
The gunmen disguised as lawyers entered the court hearing and shot gangster Jitendra Gogi thrice. Special forces personnel rescuing the gangster fired again, in which both the attackers were killed on the spot. A total of 30 rounds were fired.
Notorious gangster involved in several criminal cases and lodged in Tihar Jail since last year, Jitendra Gogi was declared dead at the hospital. Police said a rival gang, named “Tillu Gang”, had hatched a conspiracy to kill him when he was brought up for a court hearing today.
“Two of the rival gang opened fire on Jitendra Gogi inside the court. That’s when the police retaliated and gunned down those two attackers,” Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana told NDTV.
“The police acted swiftly and killed both the attackers. A total of three dead including Gogi,” Mr Asthana said.
The incident marks a major security lapse in the court premises.
A lawyer, Lalit Kumar, said: “The judge was in the court, the lawyer was present and Jitendra Gogi was there. Both these lawyers (who turned out to be shooters in the guise of lawyers) came inside and started firing. An inter was also shot.”
The two gangs were reportedly at war for years and over 25 people have been killed in their clashes.
Gogi and Tillu Tajpuria were reportedly friends in college, but split in 2010, and their feud turned into a gang war.
Gogi, born Jitendra Mann, was arrested in March last year and was considered a big catch for the Delhi Police.
The incident has raised questions as to whether the metal detectors in the court were working and if they were, how could the armed men escape.
“The question whether the metal detectors were not working in the court premises is a matter of investigation and I cannot comment on it at the moment. We are already investigating the matter and we will not spare anyone involved in this shootout. No one will be spared,” Mr Asthana told NDTV.
He said: “Delhi Police is doing its job seriously. We were effective and focused and that is why the shooter was successfully neutralized. We will say more after a detailed investigation.
