As per the initial estimates, the film saw a dip in viewership on Thursday, as was expected with a stellar performance in the first six days. According to a report in Box Office India, Gangubai Kathiawadi collected Rs 5.25 crore on Thursday, taking the total to over Rs 67 crore. Interestingly, Ranveer’s 83 earned Rs 67.8 crore after its first week despite being released on Christmas. According to BOI, the drop in collections on the seventh day for Gangubai Kathiawadi is around 15 per cent and 45 per cent, while its first day collections are Rs 10.50 crore.
It will not be a surprise if the film manages to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in the second week. However, given the competition from new releases, the much-awaited The Batman and Jhund, it will be interesting to see how Gangubai Kathiawadi performs in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson’s comic book film The Batman has managed to garner decent advance bookings, which suggests that it will give a tough competition to Gangubai Kathiawadi. As per the BOI report, the advance booking of Batman is not as good as Spider-Man: No Way Home, but still, it will get off to a good start considering the hype around it.
Before The Batman, These Comic Book Movies Went Off the Beaten Track
The report states that Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund is expected to have a good collection in Maharashtra and no further. However, since the film is not in Marathi but in Hindi, the local audience is less likely to like it. Jhund would have to do really good business in Maharashtra for it to be a hit.
