The incident emerged as a hot topic in Tamil Nadu’s political arena on Monday and “#GetOutRavi” started trending on Twitter, with many demanding Ravi’s removal.
Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi’s omission of parts of the draft prepared by the government during his address to the state assembly triggered an explosive row between the ruling DMK and the Raj Bhavan and “#GetoutRavi” posters, featuring Chief Minister MK Stalin was featured prominently. There were explosions in some parts of the city on Tuesday.
On Monday, the Tamil Nadu Governor’s address marked the beginning of the year’s first session of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. In his address, the Governor, who sought to justify the government’s policy, avoided using words such as the Dravidian model, women empowerment, Anna, or Periyar or other prominent leaders including EV Ramaswamy (Periyar), Dr BR Ambedkar and former chief ministers. Kumaraswamy Kamaraj in his speech further omitted the part which said that ‘all state languages should be given official language status’.
Chief Minister MK Stalin condemned the act, moved a motion to delete the Governor’s words from the notes of the House and called for declaring valid only the prepared text of the Governor’s address presented in the House. During Stalin’s speech, the Governor got down from his seat and walked out of the House.

The Governor’s actions have been termed illegal by several political parties in the state. Besides this, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and CPI(M) have announced blockade of Raj Bhavan.
Meanwhile, “#GetoutRavi” posters surfaced at several places in Chennai, prominently in Anna Salai, Gemini Overpass and Anna Arivalayam neighbourhoods. The poster featuring the Chief Minister mentions the Twitter No. 1 trending #GetOutRavi hashtag.
Subsequently, Chief Minister Stalin, ministers Udhayanidhi Stalin, Dayanidhi Maran, Chennai DMK West secretary Chitrarasu, and Madras High Court advocate Hemanth Annadurai were all identified on posters with their names and images.
