Every year a theme is decided to celebrate this day. In 2020, the theme was dedicated to all the parents globally who spend their lives chasing after their children. The theme for this year’s Global Day of Parents is to appreciate all parents across the globe.
Global Parents Day 2022: History and Significance
On 17 September 2012, the United Nations General Assembly passed resolution 66/292 to celebrate 1 June as Global Parents Day. This day is declared in honor of the role of parents in a child’s life. Universal Peace Federation recognizes the efforts of caregivers in the lifelong parenting and protection of their children.
According to the UPF, a child should be brought up in a positive family environment for harmonious development. Keeping all these points in mind, the United Nations passed the resolution and declared the day as the Global Parents Day.
In many parts of the world, Parents’ Day is celebrated on different dates. While in the United States, this day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of July, in South Korea the day is celebrated on 8 May every year.
