“Do not take selfies and pictures without the permission of other tourists/strangers, especially while sunbathing or swimming in the sea, so as to respect their privacy,” according to the advisory issued on Thursday.

The department has advised travelers visiting the coastal state not to destroy or damage heritage sites by writing graffiti or resorting to other forms of defacement of monuments.
“Don’t hire illegal private taxis. Insist on metered fare to avoid overcharging,” said the advisory and asked the visitors to follow all rules.
It has advised travelers to book accommodation with legal hotels/villas or accommodation facilities registered with the tourism department.
“Consumption of alcohol in open areas like beaches etc is prohibited and is a punishable offence. However, alcohol can be consumed responsibly inside legally licensed premises like shanties/restaurants, hotels etc,” the advisory said.
The department has said that tourists come to Goa, where every year lakhs of tourists come from different parts of Goa for a holiday. India And while abroad, one should avoid hiring private vehicles/cabs/motorbikes on hire which are not registered with the Transport Department and do not have a valid permit.
“Tourists are advised not to entertain illegal touts or agents for booking of water sports and river cruises. Tourists should insist on registration certificate issued by the Department of Tourism while booking such services and Should book only through registered travel agents or registered online portals.
The advisory states that cooking in open areas is prohibited and violation of this rule can lead to action, confiscation of cooking material and fine up to Rs 50,000. PTI
