Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate is a heavyweight BJP MLA Panaji Assembly Area. He has been a three-time member of the Goa Legislative Assembly. Apart from Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate, three new faces were in the Council of Ministers, which took oath in Panaji on Monday – Rohan Khunte, Ravi Naik, Subhash Shirodkar.
Rohan Khaunte, an MLA from Goa’s Porvorim constituency, has previously served as the Minister of IT, Revenue, Labor and Employment and Planning and Statistics and Evaluation in Manohar Parrikar’s cabinet.
Rohan first contested the Goa Legislative Assembly election in 2012 as an independent candidate and won a majority. He is a self-proclaimed sports lover and represents the state of Goa in the field of cricket and basketball.
Another new face Subhash Shirodkar is the party’s candidate from Siroda constituency. The 70-year-old had left the Congress in 2018 and resigned as a member of the Legislative Assembly to join the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Ravi Naik, the former Chief Minister of Goa, started his career with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party. He is a member of Goa’s five-member Congress Legislature Party (CLP) and remained with the party during the two-thirds split in the CLP in 2019, when 10 MLAs joined the ruling BJP.

Eight state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders along with the chief minister took oath at a grand swearing-in ceremony here, which was also attended by top party leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
After Sawant was sworn in, BJP leaders Vishwajit Rane, Mauvin Godinho, Ravi Naik, Nilesh Cabral, Subhash Shirodkar, Rohan Khaunte, Govind Goude and Atanasio Monserrate also took oath as cabinet ministers of Goa.
