Both sides entered the game with 10 consecutive wins and needed one win to seal the title. The game at the Kalinga Stadium itself was full of quality, with both Sethu and Gokulam Kerala creating a scintillating path of play.
Tamil Nadu took the lead in the third minute of the game after a powerful strike from Anju Tamang went to the head of defender and Renu Rani. The forward made no mistake in taking the ball home from close range.
However, Gokulam Kerala came back in full force to equalize in the 14th minute. Loitongbam Ashalata Devi scored from the spot with a cool-headed finish when Elshadai Achempong hit a foul inside the box.
The Ghana forward took a 2-1 lead for the defending champions in the 33rd minute. He took advantage of an error in the Sethu defense and tapped the ball from close range to complete the return.
In-form striker Manisha Kalyan took a 3-1 lead for Kozhikode in no time.
In the first half both sides shared a similar percentage of possession of the ball, but it was Gokulam Kerala that dominated in terms of attack threat. He repeated his performance over the next 45 minutes.
Sethu FC did not get any success despite several occasions. Eventually, the referee blew the final whistle and Gokulam Kerala sealed the victory and the trophy.
