Marking the beginning of the spring season, Holi is the festival of colours, which signifies happiness and the victory of good over evil.

Holi in Barsana, Mathura and Vrindavan regions of Uttar Pradesh begins on Basant Panchami and lasts for more than a month.

Barsana, a small town located about 42 km from Mathura, is famous for its Lathmar Holi festival. Women run after men with sticks or sticks and playfully kill them during this festival. Men, on the other hand, come dressed up with a ‘dhal’ or shield.

Thousands of devotees and tourists flock to Mathura and Vrindavan to witness this frenzied version of Holi.

The festival of colors is celebrated with gaiety all over India. People throw “gulal” or dry colors at each other and sing and dance to mark the festival.
