Government Arts College Coimbatore to start counseling for PG Admission 2021 from tomorrow

Government Arts College, Coimbatore has announced that it will soon start the admission process for various postgraduate courses. It will conduct a two-day counseling session on September 16 and 17.

On the first day of counseling session, candidates belonging to categories like Handicapped, Sports, NCC, Ex-Servicemen Ward and other special quota will be invited for attendance. The attendance of the students belonging to the general category candidates will be observed on the second day of the counseling session.

The college is offering a total of 21 courses under the postgraduate program which includes courses like Tourism Administration, Psychology, Commerce with CA, Tamil Literature, Computer Application, Business Economics, Botany. The variety of courses is divided into two shifts, with some courses offering seats in only one shift. Combining the seats of both the shifts, the college is offering a total of 552 seats for the academic year 2021-22.

According to a report in Times of India, a faculty member said that pure science subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are the most in demand. Along with this, psychology and political science also receive a large number of applications as there are only a few institutes that offer these courses.

The Government Arts College follows the policy of the State Government regarding reservation in the proposed seats. As per the policy, the college provides 26.5 percent reservation for backward class and 3.5 percent reservation for backward class Muslims. 20 percent reservation goes to the exempted communities and the most backward classes. SC and ST get 15 percent and 1 percent reservation respectively.

The submission of applications for this year’s admission has now stopped, and the portal has accepted its last entry on September 1, 2021. For the candidates interested in the courses, they have to pay an application fee of Rs.60. Fee has been waived. For candidates belonging to SC and ST communities.
