Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath Slammed AIMIM chief on Tuesday Asaduddin Owaisi On his CAA and NRC remarks. Addressing a rally in Kanpur, Adityanath warned Owaisi against trying to disrupt peace and communal harmony in the state, saying the BJP government “knows how to handle”.
“I want to warn the person who is inciting sentiments in the name of CAA, I want to tell these campaigners of ‘Abba Jaan’ and ‘Chacha Jaan’ that the state government knows if they try to do so. That’s how to handle it strictly,” Adityanath said.
Adityanath then said that Owaisi has a hand with Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party.
Adityanath said, “Today, everyone knows that Owaisi is working as an agent of the Samajwadi Party who wants to incite sentiments in the state. Today’s government does not protect the rioters but runs a bulldozer on their chest. “
Addressing a public meeting in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki on Sunday, Owaisi demanded the repeal of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and warned that if both the laws were not repealed, protesters would be “on the streets”. Will convert it into Shaheen Bagh.
“CAA is against the Constitution. If the BJP government does not take back this law, we will come out on the streets and another Shaheen Bagh will be built here,” the AIMIM chief had said.
Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh has been the center of protest against CAA and NRC. The protest site, where hundreds of women had camped for several months to protest against the CAA, was cleared by the Delhi Police last year following the lockdown due to COVID-19.
Notably, the AIMIM has announced that it will contest 100 seats out of 403 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. Elections are to be held in the state early next year.
