Belagavi: District Minister Govind Karjol On Monday, the Agriculture and Horticulture officers were instructed to conduct a drone survey of crop damage in Belagavi district. Presiding over a meeting to discuss precautionary measures in case of floods or excessive rainfall, he said that about 877 hectares of standing crops have been damaged due to heavy rains. He directed the officials to pay compensation to the affected farmers after conducting a proper survey of the extent of damage caused by the drones.
The minister asked the officials to pay compensation to 775 houses that were completely or partially damaged by the rains as per the guidelines. Since most MaharashtraHe said that the reservoirs are only 60 per cent full, now the risk of flooding in the river is less. However, the nodal officers appointed for the purpose should perform their duties properly. He asked Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil to cancel the leave of all the officers till the threat of flood is over.
Karjol said the government has paid Rs 924 crore as compensation for damage caused by floods or heavy rains to 75,023 houses in the last three years. Complaints of non-receipt of compensation are still coming. He said that in such cases the authorities should re-survey those families and if the case is true, then give compensation to them.
The District Minister clarified that a compensation fund of Rs 58 crore is available. Officers should immediately start survey and compensation distribution work.

Every year during the rainy season, these bridges get submerged, disrupting the lives of the people, he said, adding that the government should rebuild these bridges.
