The government on January 11 said it has sanctioned ₹154.84 crore to the National Mineral Exploration Trust for mineral exploration and enhancing capabilities.
Financial assistance to exploration agencies will provide auctionable mineral blocks to the nation and help in realizing self-reliance in the mining sector.
“Executive Committee Meeting of National Mineral Exploration Trust [NMET]Ministry of Mines, was conducted… projects worth ₹154.84 crore were approved to enhance institutional capabilities in mineral exploration and exploration,” the Ministry of Mines said in a statement.
Projects include exploration of minerals such as graphite, iron, coal, zinc and bauxite.
Financial assistance has also been approved for mineral exploration and for enhancing the institutional capabilities of the Geological Survey of India and the Indian Bureau of Mines, the statement said.
