In a public notice dated October 28, the ministry has invited applications from eligible candidates for the post of chairman of SEBI for a maximum tenure of five years or up to 65 years, whichever is earlier.
A public notice issued by the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance said that the applications of eligible candidates along with attested copies of necessary documents may be forwarded through a proper channel (where applicable) on or before December 6, 2021. can.
“Incomplete applications and applications received after the last date will not be considered,” it said.

As per the process of appointment of regulators, candidates will be shortlisted by the Financial Sector Regulatory Appointments Search Committee (FSRASC) headed by the Cabinet Secretary.
The shortlisted candidates are interviewed by the Secretary of Economic Affairs and a panel of three external members having domain knowledge.
Based on the talks, the FSRASC recommended the name to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, headed by the Prime Minister. Narendra Modi for approval.
