While previous models like Baleno, Glanza and Vitara Brezza, Urban Cruiser were simple badge-swap jobs, this time there are several things that differentiate the Grand Vitara from the Haider.
design difference
First of all, talking about the difference in design, the Grand Vitara and Haider can be differentiated through the front grille and headlights. The Hyryder gets a new Toyota grille – a thinner opening and a larger Toyota badge in the middle, similar to the Camry.
The Grand Vitara gets a wide grille in gloss black accents. The LED Daytime Running Light (DRL) has also been designed differently. The Grand Vitara gets the same 3 pod LED DRLs as the Baleno. The Hyryder sports twin LED strips separated by a chrome stripe attached to the grille.
Moving to the rear, both the SUVs get slim tail-lights but the Grand Vitara’s tail-lights are separated by a light bar and the Hyryder is separated by a chrome strip. The Hyryder gets twin C-shaped LED lights while the Grand Vitara gets a 3-block design which is similar to the DRLs at the front.
internal differences
The interiors of both these SUVs look pretty much the same. The only difference is the color schemes for the interior. Both get the same steering wheel design with different logos. The AC controls, vent and power window switches, drive mode selector and many other small elements remain the same.
Are both the same dimensions?
The dimensions of both these SUVs differ slightly though the wheelbase and width of the vehicles remain the same. The Grand Vitara is slightly taller than the Haider, while the Haider is slightly taller.

powertrain
The Grand Vitara and Hyryder have similar engine and gearbox options. Both the hybrid SUVs are offered with two engine options – a mild hybrid option and a strong hybrid. The mild hybrid is Maruti Suzuki’s 1.5-litre four-cylinder NA K15C with Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) that produces 103hp and 135Nm of torque. It is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The robust hybrid is Toyota’s 1.5 L NW three-cylinder TNGA Atkinson cycle engine coupled to a 177.6V lithium-ion battery. Combined, it makes 115hp and is mated to Toyota’s e-CVT transmission. All-wheel drive is also offered, but only with a mild hybrid powertrain.
