Greater Noida: At least seven Dalits were injured, four of them critically, due to a dispute over “high-pitched music” and “objectionable remarks”. to attack Upper caste people allegedly attacked a village in Greater Noida on Sunday.
Two of the four seriously injured have been admitted to AIIMS in Delhi.
The clash took place during a meeting of Azad Samaj Party in Kanpur village of Rabupura area, in which local people Dalits Along with the community, supporters of Azad Samaj Party were also present. During the meeting, police said, some participants took a DJ (disc jockey) towards the venue while playing songs praising Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar and also allegedly made some objectionable remarks.
ACP-4 (Greater Noida) Rudra Pratap Singh told TOI that the meeting was organized for an upcoming event in which Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad is scheduled to preside in Meerut.
“They were creating awareness about the programme. A person named Prempal who is the owner of the DJ set was playing it without permission in the meeting and the participants also made some objectionable remarks which the members of the upper caste community did not like. To show them who is bigger than whom seems to be a kind of display of the strength of the community,” he said.
According to the FIR registered by the police, several people including Vikas, Rahul alias Kalua, Gaurav, Rachit, Hemant, Sandeep, Vipin, Amrish, KK Sharma and Bhupendra reached Umesh’s house with country-made pistols, rods. and sharp weapons and attacked seven people. The meeting was being held at Umesh’s house.
Of the seven, another man named Hrithik and daughter Priyanshi, son of the host and Ram Vilas, and a woman named Monica have sustained serious injuries. Those victims were taken to GIMS in Greater Noida where they are recovering but two of them have been referred to AIIMS in Delhi.
After the incident report went viral, an FIR was registered in the matter under sections 147, 148, 149, 307, 323, 354, 392, 452 and 406 of the IPC and sections 3(2)(v) of the SC/ST Amendment Was. Action against 10 people on complaint of Bhim Army member Bachchan
Later three people were arrested in connection with the case – Rajkumar Sharma, Manish Thakur and Sumit Thakur. Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad tweeted about the incident and said that the administration will be responsible for any negligence in the treatment of the injured.
