GST collection above 2 trillion rupees for second straight month, at Rs 2.01 lakh in May

Deloite India partner Ms. Mani said that extensive changes in the development of GST collections in states require intensive analysis in areas that are important in each state.

While big states like Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have reported an increase of 17 percent to 25 percent, similar big states such as Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have seen an increase of up to 6 percent.

Some states like Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan have seen an average growth of 10 percent.

Mani said, “Therefore, the average growth across the country is probably not equally reflected in states due to regional or seasonal factors, which require a deep data -based analysis,” Mani said.

Price Waterhouse and Company LLP Partner Pratic Jain said that the 16 percent increase in GST collection in the month shows a new speed after a new increase in the range of 11 to 12 percent.

“If this limit continues to increase for the next few months, it can provide a cushion to the government to see the rationalization, on which a lot of work has already been done,” Jain said.

Saurabh Aggarwal, tax partner of EY India, said that in view, we can see GST collection numbers in June with a slight increase in June due to the geopolitical tension going on worldwide.

Tax Connected Advisory Services LLP Partner Vivek Jalan said that with an increase of about 10 percent in domestic GST revenue and 73 percent increase in import GST revenue, it is very clear that GST revenue growth in GST revenue is an increase of this month instead of domestic consumption.

Jalan said, “With the fact that the export refund is not increasing, the fact shows the fact that import growth is more than export growth,” Jalan said. PTI JD DRR
