Gujarat government asks schools to perform ‘Bharat Mata Pujan’, religious organizations say ‘don’t politicize education’

The Joint Director of the Education Department, in a notification dated July 25, 2022, has directed all the District Education Officers to ensure that Bharat Mata Pujan is organized in schools after the prayer.

The notification said: “On the request letter of National Educational Federation (RSM), Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, as a part of Bharat Mata Pujan and a lecture should be organized in every school. Such programs will create patriotism.”

GRPSS president Digvijayasinh Jadeja said, “The notification was also opposed by the GRPPS.” He firmly believes that education should not be politicized and “this is an attempt to give space to RSM to expand its wings in schools. RSM is promoted by the Sangh,” alleged Jadeja.

Jadeja also said: “When we opposed the notification, the education minister requested support for nationalism.”

Jamiat Ulama Gujarat general secretary Nisar Ahmed Ansari, in a letter addressed to the Joint Director (Education), has opposed the notification, saying: “We will warmly participate in the cultural programs organized to celebrate the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi, but we will be proud of Mother India. are against. Worship. The said notification is issued on the request of one organization, not taking any other organization or stakeholders into confidence. The National Educational Federation represents all sections of the society.

The letter further said: “In Islam, idol worship is prohibited, Muslim believers cannot worship idols. The said notification is also a violation of the Indian Constitution which gives the right to profess the religion in which one believes. There is no mention of worshiping Mother India anywhere in the Constitution. We pray that the notification be withdrawn.”
