‘Gujarat ready for big changes this time’: Kejriwal sounds poll bugle as Election Commission announces polling dates

The schedule for the high-stakes Gujarat Assembly elections was announced by Election Commission (EC) on Thursday. The Election Commission said that voting for the Gujarat Assembly elections will be held in two phases – on December 1 and December 5 respectively.

The counting of votes will take place on December 8, which will coincide with the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections.

Soon after the program was announced, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal said on Twitter that the people of Gujarat “are ready for a big change this time”.

Kejriwal wrote, ‘We will definitely win.

Long stranded between the two poles, Gujarat’s electoral constituency has expanded to include a third party, posing a major challenge to the ruling BJP as well as the opposition Congress, which has lost ground but is currently Also important is presence.

Moreover, the freebie versus welfare debate – which the AAP and the BJP have been fighting over the past several weeks – and the ruling party’s core electoral issue of Hindutva, ‘double engine’ growth and governance, is likely to be at the center of the debate.

AAP will announce its face for Gujarat elections on Friday, November 4.
