State government spokesperson Vaghani told reporters, “All Indian nationals, including these students, were already given emergency contact numbers. The students should get in touch with the embassy in Ukraine.” He said that recently many stranded Indians including Gujarati students were brought back by plane.

“But at that time some Gujaratis could not board the plane. Now the situation is getting worse there,” the minister said.

He said, “I want to assure the students that their safety is the priority of the Government of India. Our government had earlier also evacuated the stranded Indians and we will do the same this time too.”

The parents of four such students contacted Vadodara MP Ranjan Bhatt and sought his help.

“Four students from Vadodara were supposed to board a flight from Ukraine to Turkey. But, the flight got canceled at the last minute and the airport was also sealed. These students were also asked to leave the airport. Contacted the Ministry of External Affairs and informed about these stranded students,” Bhatt said.

Two other students – Bhavesh Vanzara from Aravalli district and Harsh Soni from Rajkot – are also stranded in Ukraine and sent video messages for immediate help.

Soni said in the video message, “I am in the final year of a medical course. The situation is getting worse with every passing hour. There are others like me who are stranded. I request the government to do something and help us.” I appeal to you to come back home at the earliest.”
