Gujarat will win the election; You are only in the air, not on the ground: Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi On Monday expressed confidence that his party will win the Gujarat Assembly elections, arguing that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has created buzz in the state only on the basis of advertisements and has no support on the ground.

Addressing a press conference here, Gandhi said there is widespread anti-incumbency against the BJP-led government in the state.

“The Congress is fighting the Gujarat elections effectively. You are only in the air. It has nothing on the ground. Congress is a strong party in Gujarat.

“There is a massive anti-incumbency wave. There has been a stir in the media on the basis of the advertisements given by you. Congress party is a strong party in Gujarat. Congress party is going to win elections there.

Gandhi declined to comment on the tragedy in Morbi, where a bridge collapsed in which over 130 people were killed, saying he did not want to politicize the incident.

The former Congress president also ruled out any possibility of an alliance with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

“There is no possibility of any relation between TRS and Congress,” he said.

Gandhi said TRS is the complete opposite of Congress.

“Corruption, attitude, attitude of TRS is not acceptable to us. We are the complete opposite of what they are doing.”

Asked about TRS founder K Chandrasekhar Rao’s move to rename his party as Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Gandhi said the Telangana chief minister was free to imagine that he was leading a national or an international party. Huh.
