A portion of a flyover on the Gurugram-Jaipur Expressway fell on the road below, showing some cracks, officials said on Sunday.
“A three-foot block from the flyover on the Gurugram-Jaipur Expressway at Shikopur crossing fell on the road below around 9.30 am. A major accident was averted as it was a Sunday and there was not much traffic,” officials said. quoted by news agency PTI,
As soon as the information was received, NHAI immediately reached the spot to start the repair work and barricaded the damaged part of the flyover. Also, an inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
NHAI Director Ajay Arya said, “Investigation is on and strict action will be taken as per the report.”

UP Expressway Industrial Authority spokesperson Durgesh Upadhyay said that due to incessant rains in Chiriya Salempur area of Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh, one and a half feet deep potholes have developed in the part of Bundelkhand Expressway.
However, the chuckholes were immediately repaired and the road opened for traffic, the official said, as quoted by the news agency. PTI,
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was heavily criticized by the opposition parties over the quality of the road construction and action was demanded against the officials and companies concerned.
