Mumbai Indians (MI)’s decision to release the star all-rounder ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction hasn’t exactly gone down well as the five-time champions finished at the bottom of the points table last season. However, for Hardik, it turned out to be a blessing as he got drafted by one of the two new franchises – Gujarat Titans and named captain. Hardik repaid the faith shown by the management, leading the franchise to the IPL title in his first season.
In the ongoing IPL season, GT are second in the table with five wins from seven matches. Holders beat MI by 55 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
