New Delhi:
Reacting sharply to alleged hate speeches at a ‘Dharma Sansad’ held in Haridwar recently, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra today demanded strict action against those inciting violence, saying such acts Violate the constitution and the law.
Trinamool Congress national spokesperson Saket Gokhale has also demanded action against the organizers and speakers of ‘Dharma Sansad’ held in Haridwar where “hate speeches” were allegedly made against Muslims.
Against this, he has lodged a complaint at Jwalapur police station in Haridwar district.
Taking a jibe at the remarks made at the Haridwar Conclave, Priyanka Gandhi said, “Strict action should be taken against those inciting such hatred and violence.”
He tweeted, “It is condemnable that they run away with an open call to assassinate our respected former Prime Minister and commit violence against people from different communities.”
“Such acts violate our Constitution and the law of our land,” the Congress general secretary said.
Several opposition leaders, including the Congress and the Trinamool Congress, had on Thursday condemned the “hate speech convention” held in Haridwar and called for strict action against those involved.
The Dharma Sansad at Ved Niketan Dham in Haridwar was organized by Juna Akhara’s Yeti Narasimhanand Giri, who is already under police custody for giving hate speeches and inciting violence against Muslims.
