Harry, Meghan to be honored for taking ‘heroic stand’ against Royal Family

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are set to receive a prestigious human rights award, for their courage in opposing racism within the royal family. The chairman of the Robert F Kennedy Foundation, which will honor The Duke and Duchess of Sussex with The Ripple of Hope Award in December, explained why the royal couple will receive the prestigious human rights award.

The pair were chosen for the honor because they questioned the “power structure” of the royal family, according to Kerry Kennedy, niece of John F. Kennedy and daughter of Robert Kennedy. Carey applauded her “brave stand” against “structural racism” within the UK’s oldest institution.

Places at Harry and Meghan’s tables are reportedly selling for up to $1 million ( 8 crore), the royal couple are expected to attend the major gala event, to be hosted by Alec Baldwin, on December 6 in New York. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, InVenergy CEO Michael Polsky, Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan and Siris co-founder Frank Baker will also be honored at the event.

Carey thought back to a time in 1966 when his father traveled to South Africa and gave a speech to an all-white audience. Talking about racial justice, he claimed that it was a generational problem. He also discussed moral courage, saying that few people would have the courage to challenge power structures that were supported by their friends, family, and communities. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have done exactly what their father talked about, they told El Confidential’s Vanitas.

Harry and Meghan show the royal family what they’re doing wrong. Carey said the couple warned her that they could not perpetuate the institution’s practice of systemic racism and that they could not misrepresent mental illness. According to Carey, he knew that doing so would lead to negative consequences, alienation and loss of his family. She said that Harry and Meghan did it anyway because they believed that if they did not question authority, they would not be able to live with themselves.
