Hartalika Teej 2022: The Hindu festival of Teej has significance in all parts of the country. On this day women worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Gauri and pray for the long and healthy life of their husbands. They observe ‘Nirjala’ Vrat (fasting without food and water) and pray to the Lord. Not only this, unmarried girls also keep a fast in the hope of getting the desired groom like Lord Shiva. According to folklore, it is said that Goddess Parvati first observed the fast after which she received Lord Shiva as her husband.
Every year on the Shukla Paksha of Bhadra month, on Hartalika Teej, women do sixteen makeup, apply mehndi and decorate themselves with fancy ornaments. The Hindu festival is celebrated a day before Ganesh Chaturthi.
