Haryana makes the first appointments for future departments with 2 IAS officers as Director and Commissioner

Gurugram: The Haryana government on Thursday appointed the first set of officers for its new established department, marking the formal establishment of the structure of the new department. Future department, declared during him by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini Budget speech in March, This is believed to be the first time in India, which is focusing on strategic foresight and long -term plan for the development of the state.

As per an official order issued by the Chief Secretary by Governor Bandaru Dattaya, IAS officer of 2001 batch, Emneet P. Kumar has been appointed as Commissioner and Secretary of the Department. She will conduct in -charge in addition to her current roles as Commissioner and Secretary of Departments of Fisheries and Archives.

The order states that 2011-batch IAS officer Aditya Dahiya has been appointed as Director of Future Department. He will continue his existing responsibilities as the Special Secretary of the Departments of Training and Parliamentary Affairs.

Both appointments were made against the newly created posts, indicating the formal installation of the structure of the department.

‘Strategic Think-Tank of Haryana’

Announcing the formation of the new department, Saini said that it is to work as a strategic think-tank of Haryana to analyze global trends, to forecast risks and prepare policies to ensure continuous development.

He also said that it would focus on major areas such as preparation of climate change, artificial intelligence, automation and economic flexibility, while pushing Haryana towards AI adoption, and integrating robotics and emerging technology with governance and industry.

While the official notification does not specify the objectives of the department, a senior state government official on Thursday told Diprin that he would focus on preparing Haryana for emerging challenges and opportunities in areas such as climate change, technical disruption, demographic change and economic infection.

He said that the department is expected to work in various fields to ensure policy preparation for future scenario, to conduct further visible research and integrate future-oriented thinking with other departments to integrate into governance.

“This innovation department represents Haryana’s commitment to active governance rather than a reactive policy setting,” said the official. “The goal is to estimate the challenges, before they occupy the crisis and opportunities before passing us.”

CM Saini’s Media Secretary Praveen Atrary told the print that Haryana is the first state in the country which has launched such a department.

He said, “While many countries including Singapore, Finland and UAE have established the same government bodies focusing on future plans and landscapes, Haryana will lead this approach among Indian states,” he said.
