Have not received audit report yet: BharatPe

Mumbai Payments company BharatPe on Friday said its board is yet to receive any interim or final report of the forensic audit after a Twitter post with a leaked snapshot of the purported report went viral earlier in the day.

According to these snapshots, Alvarez and Marshall, the risk advisory firm that BharatPe appointed last week, had found irregularities in recruitment and fake invoices linked to the company’s co-founder and managing director Ashneer Grover.

According to the pictures, Grover’s wife Madhuri Jain Grover is also associated with both the fake schemes.

Mint was first to report on Thursday that preliminary investigations have uncovered two cases of fraud at BharatPe, which is run by Resilient Innovation Pvt. Ltd. The forensic report in the leaked snapshot was dated January 24 and was submitted to the board of BharatPe.

Last week BharatPe nominated Alvarez and Marshall to advise its board. The announcement was made after a Moneycontrol report said Madhuri Grover had also gone on leave, 10 days after Ashneer Grover informed BharatPe’s board that she was taking a voluntary leave of absence till the end of March.

Mint had also reported that BharatPe’s board had decided to terminate Ashneer Grover’s services based on a preliminary report, even though it had commissioned a comprehensive report. Meanwhile, in a media interaction with Moneycontrol, Ashneer Grover said that he demands 4,000 crore from investors to buy his stake if they want him to exit the company.
