Yes, you read that right. Now you can use the gourd skins to make delicious pakoras instead of throwing them away. However, keep in mind that the peels should be long, not short. Here’s how to make these Lauki Chilka Pakora and serve with tea as an evening snack.
Component:
Gourd / Gourd Peels
Semolina – 2 tbsp
Gram flour – 4 tbsp
Chili powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Ajwain – 1 tsp
refined oil
salt – as per taste
Process:
Step 1: Wash and clean the gourd peels thoroughly. Mix semolina, gram flour, chili powder, carom seeds, turmeric and salt in a bowl.
Step 2: Add water to the mixture, but make sure that the mixture is thick. A lighter mixture will not be suitable for making good pakoras.
Step 3: Dip the gourd peels in the mixture before adding them to the hot oil. Let them cook on low flame till they become crispy.
Step 4: If you want to give shape to the skins, then take them out of the mixture and roll the peels in oil for frying.
Step 5: If desired, serve with chutney or sauce.
