An official of the civic body said that local trains are running normally on the Central Railway and Western Railway corridors. He said that the bus services of Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) have not been diverted anywhere.

Moderate to heavy rain forecast

The IMD had on Monday issued an ‘Orange’ alert for Mumbai, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in the city for the next three days. The island city (south Mumbai) received 42.42 mm of rain in the 24-hour period till 8 am on Tuesday, as against 12.04 mm the day before.

A civic official said the eastern and western suburbs recorded 63.90 mm and 52.43 mm of rain, respectively, as against 22.12 mm and 12.76 mm the previous day.

The Meteorological Department issues four color-coded forecasts based on existing weather systems. Green color does not indicate any warning, yellow color is for monitoring, orange color is for alert, while red color is warning and action needs to be taken.
