Heavy traffic jam in Delhi amid ‘Urs’ procession of Sufi saint

After getting the permission of Delhi Police, this procession will be taken out for three days from Sunday.

On Sunday, it started from Jama Masjid Chowk and passed through Matia Mahal, Chitli Kabar, Tiraha Bairam Khan, Delhi Gate, ITO, Pragati Maidan, Matka Shah Baba, Purana Qila, Sunder Nagar and Oberoi Hotel before reaching Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin. ,

The procession has now caused massive traffic jams, with police setting up diversions along its route and advising commuters to take different roads. There is a possibility of traffic jam for the next two days as well.

“Traffic at ITO, Mathura Road, Ring Road, Matia Mahal Road, Netaji Subhash Marg, Delhi Gate, BSZ Marg is diverted for religious procession,” the traffic police said in an advisory.

On Monday, the procession will pass through Lodi Road, Safdarjung Road, INA, Green Park, Hauz Khas, IIT Gate, Adhchini Village, Dargah Mai Sahiba, where it will rest for two hours before the day’s major halt at Dargah Qutbuddin Rehmat Tulla. ,

Delhi Police has urged commuters to avoid using these roads on Monday.

On Tuesday, the procession will start from Meena Bazar in central Delhi, halt at Qila Masjid for two hours and then pass through Andheria Mor, MG Road and enter Haryana through Aya Nagar border. There it will go towards Ajmer via Jama Masjid, Nudun Chowk Road, Firozpur Jhirka, Alwar Station, Akbarpur and Virat Nagar.

The traffic police said that these roads will be affected and traffic will be diverted on these roads.
