Hiraben ModiPrime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother was cremated in Gandhinagar on Friday. PM Modi reached Gujarat this morning and performed the last rites. She was 100.
His last rites were performed at Muktidham crematorium, Sector 30, Gandhinagar.
Heeraben’s family members thanked everyone for their prayers and requested people to continue with their determined work, saying it would be a fitting tribute to her. “We thank everyone for their prayers during these difficult times. It is our humble request to all to keep the departed soul in your thoughts and continue with your pre-scheduled programs and commitments. This will be the true tribute to Hiraba.

PM Modi, who was scheduled to launch developmental projects in West Bengal including a meeting of the National Ganga Council, will attend the events through video conferencing.

The medical bulletin said, “Heeraben Modi passed away on 30/12/2022 at 3.30 am at UN Mehta Heart Hospital while undergoing treatment.”
Informed of her death, the Prime Minister posted a heartfelt tweet, “A glorious century rests at the feet of God… In Maa, I have always felt that trinity, which includes the journey of an ascetic, Symbol of a selfless Karmayogi. and a life committed to values.
PM Modi reached Ahmedabad from Delhi on Wednesday afternoon and reached the hospital to meet his mother. He stayed at the hospital for over an hour and also spoke to doctors at the government-funded Autonomous Medical Facility hospital.
Heeraben, also known as Hiraba, lived with PM Modi’s younger brother Pankaj Modi in Raisan village near Gandhinagar city. The Prime Minister regularly visited Raison and spent time with her mother during most of his visits to Gujarat.
BJP leaders paid tribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother on Friday. Home Minister Amit Shah said, “A mother is the first friend and teacher of a person’s life and the pain of losing a mother is undoubtedly the biggest pain in the world.”
“The struggle Heera Baa faced to raise a family is a role model for all. His sacrificial ascetic life will always be in our memory. In this hour of grief, the entire nation stands with Prime Minister Modi and his family. The prayers of crores of people are with you (Modi). Om Shanti,” he said.
Expressing grief, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that the death of the mother creates such a void in life which is impossible to fill.
“Deeply saddened by the passing away of Heera Ba, mother of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi. The death of a mother leaves such a void in life which is impossible to fill. In this hour of grief, I express my condolences to the Prime Minister and his entire family.
Paying tributes, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the values Heeraben imparted to her family through a difficult life full of struggles have given the country a leader like Modi.
He said that his simple and compassionate image will always be with us.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to the Prime Minister’s mother and said, “The news of the demise of Mrs. Heera Ba, mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is extremely sad. At this difficult time, I express my deepest condolences and love to him and his family.
Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Bhupesh Baghel condoled the demise of the Prime Minister’s mother.
Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed his deepest condolences to the Prime Minister and his family members.
Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has also condoled the demise of PM’s mother. Mr Gehlot tweeted: “The news of the demise of Smt Heeraben ji, mother of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is sad. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families in this difficult time. God give them strength. I pray for the peace of the departed soul.
Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Heeraben Modi. The Chief Minister also directed Minister Shrikant Sahu to attend the last rites on his behalf.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed deep condolences on the demise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother and said that no one can take the place of mother.
