A group of people recently banded together to rescue a camel trapped in wet sand near Ras al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). according to this NationalThe camel trapped in quicksand was first spotted by Ian Murphy and Christine Wilson, who were on their way to a dog park. Ms Wilson shot a video of the rescue and shared it on Instagram, saying she saw the victim animal near the road.

In the video, the couple can be seen pulling the camel out of the hole. Soon, a group of local people can also be seen joining the efforts to save the camel.

talking to NationalMr. Murphy said he looked to the side of the road and saw the camel’s head stuck to the ground. “We didn’t know what happened before, but it was clear that the poor animal was in great distress,” he said.

Mr. Murphy revealed that there was no camel track around and that the animal seemed to have been stuck there for some time. He told media outlets that the camel was stuck in what looked like sand.

Fortunately, Mr. Murphy and Ms. Wilson had a shovel in the boot of their car. He immediately found work, following which a group of local people joined him and helped him with the excavation.

The couple said the camel’s front two legs were tied together, limiting its movement and making rescue efforts more difficult. “It was made a bit tricky because the camel was understandable, but didn’t have full use of its front legs,” Mr. Murphy said. However, he further added that around 15 people were involved to help the camel out.

talking to NationalMr. Murphy also pointed out that the owner of the camel also joined them to save the animal, after which the camel was freed. “Struggled to stand for a few minutes before it recovered,” he said. Mr Murphy said the camel owners were very grateful and thanked the couple for their efforts.
