Hero launched the new Zoom scooter in three variants – LX, VX and ZX, with starting prices of Rs 68,599, Rs 71,799 and Rs 76,699.
Only the top-spec ZX variant of the Hero Xoom comes equipped with cornering lights, which is a first for the 110cc scooter segment. Essentially, these lights illuminate the road in the direction the scooter is tilting. The scooter has a gyroscopic/accelerometer sensor which sends a signal to the cornering lamp once the scooter is tilted into a corner. The cornering lamp works only when the scooter is moving.
Exclusive to the ZX variant are features like Hero’s XTEC Bluetooth connectivity system that enables notification alerts on the digital dash, front disc brake and diamond-cut alloy wheels.
The mid-spec VX variant also gets a digital dash (with a separate backlight) but misses out on the connectivity features mentioned above. The base LX variant is the only one to get a digi-analog dash setup and can be optioned with a USB charger, glove box and boot light, which the other variants get as standard.
The Hero Xoom is powered by the same 110.9cc engine as the Maestro Edge 110 and the Pleasure+, and that too in a similar position. The air-cooled, single-cylinder mill produces 8.1hp at 7,250rpm and 8.7Nm of torque at 5,750rpm. All variants of the Zoom come equipped with Hero’s i3s Start/Stop technology, which can also be switched off.
The chassis is a similar unit to Hero’s other 110cc offerings but tweaked specifically for the Zoom. The telescopic fork and monoshock setup is completely new.
The VX and ZX variants come equipped with a wider 100/80-12 rear tyre, while the LX variant makes do with a 90/90-12 unit. The front tire of size 90/90-12 remains common across all.
The seat height is 770 mm and ground clearance is 155 mm. The top-spec ZX variant is the only one to feature a 190mm front disc brake and the other two make do with 130mm drum brakes at the front. At the rear, all variants come equipped with 130mm drum brake.
The LX and VX variants of the Zoom weigh 108 kg, while the ZX weighs 109 kg. The fuel tank capacity of all the three variants is 5.2 litres. Hero says that the Zoom is not yet OBD-II compliant. OBD-2 norms become effective from April 1, 2023.
