Virat Kohli Everything is doing fine in this T20 World Cup. He has scored three half-centuries in four matches. The latest came against Bangladesh on Wednesday as he remained unbeaten on 64 (44b) to help India reach 184/6 in 20 overs. In the process, Kohli overtook the former Sri Lankan captain. Mahela JayawardeneHe has a total of 1,016 runs which has become the highest run-scorer in T20 World Cup history. Jayawardene made his mark in 31 innings but Kohli only scored 23 runs to pass him. Former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson The former India captain was in awe of Kohli after the latest exploit.
“More than 1000 runs at an average of over 80 in the T20 World Cup, I just can’t get my head around it. T20 cricket is a high risk sport, high risk batting and to think he can do it Biggest can do tournaments, average so much and win so many games for his country. He’s a freak and those stats are super weird. It’s unbelievable that you can bat in such a high risk format and score consistently It’s ridiculous,” Watson said on Star Sports.
After Kohli’s unbeaten knock, Bangladesh looked on their way to victory after a run of 66–0 in seven overs when rain halted play leading to four overs lost. Bangladesh faltered in their revised target of 151 runs in 16 overs. Opener Liton Das struck a 27-ball 60, but his run out after a 50-minute interruption led to Bangladesh’s collapse and ended at 145-6.
