High Blood Pressure: 6 Health Dangers of Uncontrolled High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure, often referred to as hypertension, is a condition where blood flow is forced against artery walls. This sudden increase in pressure seriously damages the heart and often results in heart attack, stroke and other cardiac disorders. And the effects of high blood pressure don’t really end there.

Uncontrolled high blood pressure can eventually lead to disability and serious heart health problems while silently causing long-term damage to your internal organs.

In an interview with Zee English, Dr GR Kane, Consultant Cardiologist, PD Hinduja Hospital & MRC shares more about high blood pressure and health hazards caused by stress.

High uncontrolled BP affects almost every major organ of the body. The brain, heart, kidneys and eyes are particularly susceptible.

1. It increases your risk of heart attack and stroke. High BP causes hardening of the arteries, which leads to blockage and rupture of small arteries, which leads to bleeding in the brain, leading to stroke.

Heart failure is common in people with 2. high BP. When your heart has to continuously push blood throughout your body against high pressure, one day it can’t do it and it fails to pump blood further through the body. So it moves backwards into the lungs and fills the lungs with fluid, making you severely short of breath and unable to breathe. breathe

3. You may get chest pain and heart attack. It is a simple demand-supply issue. If the heart is unable to supply itself with blood due to blockage of the coronary arteries and also the need for blood increases due to thickening of the heart muscle, a heart graft is required.

4. You are more likely to have vision problems. Your eyes are full of tiny blood vessels that can be easily stressed or damaged by high blood pressure.

5. You may develop sexual dysfunction. High blood pressure can cause low libido in women and erectile dysfunction in men.

6. It increases your risk for peripheral arterial disease (PAD). PAD occurs when the arteries in your legs, arms, abdomen, or head become narrow and cause pain, cramps, and fatigue. If you have PAD, you also have an increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

Symptoms of hypertensive crisis include:

– blurred vision or other vision problems

– Dizziness

– Dizziness

– Severe headache

– hemorrhage

– Difficulty in breathing

– chest discomfort or pain

– feeling anxious or that something is not right

Worst of all, HT can be a silent killer as the first sign can be a stroke or heart attack in someone who unfortunately had no complaints until now.

All the above serious issues can be completely controlled and avoided if you had regularly checked your BP at least once in every 6 months with automatic BP equipment at home which is currently very reliable. Periodically take your device to your doctor to confirm that it is working properly. There is absolutely no need to visit a doctor to check your BP.

Dr. Kane concluded, “Your BP, your life is completely in your hands.”
