ETWayne in routine rush, these are unplanned moments that bring us happiness.
You are on a train trip, and the person sitting opposite to you asks, “Forgive me, on which station are you getting down?” This simple question promotes a conversation. You can talk about your work and interests, and perhaps share a joke. This is a brief but pleasant exchange. Someone praises your organization, your smile, or the work you do, which makes you feel uplift.
The gestures also bring happiness. You can hug a friend or a loved one. Even simple as children smiling and waving from the window of the school bus can be fun. A child waving on you makes you smile without thinking. A look with your one -sided love? You probably told your friends about it. If you are a dog lover, you feel that when a neighbor’s dog walks near you, licks your hand, and jumps around. It fills you with joy – no word is necessary.
And then calm surprises – running into a childhood classmate, presenting your old teacher, or hitting a neighbor years ago. They hit you with a wave of apathy.
If you notice, one thing in all of them is the same: they are unplanned. We do not make these moments – they come out because we remain receptive.
Science says that whether it is a common laugh, with a unreasonable meeting with a friend, or any other spontaneous conversation, these moments trigger the release of the feel-gud hormone. Dopamine gives pleasure, serotonin balances our mood, forms oxytocin bonds, and reduce endorphins stress.
We all have our versions of these experiences. Although they cannot be the only source of our happiness, they are among the moments that are always around us – calm, fleeting, and waiting for us.
