Himachal Congress chief, MLA’s son summoned in domestic violence case

Pratibha Singh was seen as a strong contender for the post of chief minister.

Udaipur/Shimla:

Himachal Pradesh Congress President Pratibha Singh and her son Vikramaditya Singh have been called for questioning in a domestic violence case filed by Vikramaditya’s wife.

Vikramaditya Singh, son of former chief minister Virbhadra Singh, is the MLA from Shimla.

Vikramaditya Singh’s wife Sudarshan Singh Chundawat has accused Shimla MLA Pratibha Singh, sister-in-law Aparajita and brother-in-law Angad Singh of domestic violence and harassment in her complaint.

After the party’s victory in Himachal Pradesh, Pratibha Singh was seen as a strong contender for the chief minister’s post. Her husband Virbhadra Singh was a strong leader of the Congress in Himachal Pradesh. Pratibha Singh was elected Lok Sabha MP from her constituency Mandi after her death last year.

In another case, Sudarshan Singh Chundawat has demanded maintenance from Vikramaditya Singh.

Chundawat, a resident of Rajasthan’s Udaipur, has also accused her husband of having an affair with Amreen, a woman from Chandigarh.

She claimed that Vikramaditya had installed CCTV cameras in her room to keep an eye on her.

They have been asked to appear before a court in Udaipur in January, while in the second case – in which Ms Chundawat has sought maintenance – only Vikramaditya has been summoned by a family court.

The couple got married in March, 2019. Sudarshana alleged that Vikramaditya asked her to return to her maternal home Udaipur after the death of her father Virbhadra Singh. He said that he also asked her for Rs 10 crore in cash.

After some social media posts went viral claiming that a non-bailable warrant had been issued in the case, Vikramaditya Singh issued a statement saying that no warrant had been issued against him and his family. “There is no lapse on our part, so there is no question of issuing non-bailable warrant against us,” he said in the video.

“It is a personal matter. I do not want to comment on it and want the issue to be resolved through mediation in the court of law,” Singh said.
