Himachal Pradesh: Train derails on World Heritage Kalka-Shimla railway track

In an unprecedented incident, a rail car derailed on World Heritage Kalka-Shimla at around 11:00 am today, following which train services of two trains were cancelled. A rail car coming from Kalka to Shimla near the state capital suddenly derailed between the Tara Devi and Shoghi railway tracks. There were eight passengers in the train car and all the passengers are said to be safe. At present the track has been closed for movement.

Two trains have been canceled and track repair work is on. Rail traffic is expected to be restored soon. The reason for the derailment of the train car is yet to be ascertained.
