Established as a boundary wall in 1639, it was known as Shahjahanabad in the olden days. The city remained the capital of the Mughal Empire till 1857 and traces of it can still be seen today. Today the destination is home to old historical wonders, markets, eateries and more. Old Delhi also houses the poet Mirza Ghalib’s house and the magnificent Jama Masjid.
